FYI- A chair for Granny

I just finished this custom chair for a client.....and it was such a privilege for me to take this project on. This rocker belongs to a sweet 91 year old lady who will be coming to live with her family here in Greenville very soon. There is a little cottage on the property being prepared for this special lady.....and it is going to be so precious! I love thinking about her peacefully rocking in her chair.....just chillin like a villain.xo,Barb{p.s. and you thought I didn't have any furniture for you this week.....tsk tsk}

Introductions- Olive Box launches today

Today is a super big day for my friend Grace. {Pink Olive owner, retail extraordinaire, and personal mentor!} One of the things I have always admired when walking into the Pink Olive stores is the selection of paper products. Cards, journals, calendars, note pads and books..... by all of my favorite artists and authors. Well, Grace has just launched a monthly paper club called Olive Box! Now you can have these favorite treats delivered to your mailbox every month!I received my first box {photos above} in the mail last week, and the hand selected paper goods and gifts inside are absolutely exquisite! A beautiful card, stickers, a scrumptious bar of  soap and two sweet little pocket notebooks. Part of the goal for Olive Box is to encourage more letter writing and snail mail.....so each month it will be different cards and gift items so that you have a variety of pieces to use personally, give as gifts, or simply to send a little note of encouragement to a friend far or near.I am completely on board with this plan and am so excited about the launch of such a great program. Visit the Olive Box site for more information, and to get yourself subscribed ASAP!Congrats Grace! You are awesome!xo,Barb

Quotage- It's ok to be choosy

I firmly believe that community {accountability and interactions with other humans} is essential to a healthy life. I have so much room to grow in this area, and have made many mistakes....but i firmly believe that choosing your community is not to be taken lightly.I encourage you to not only choose people who inspire you, but also people who challenge you to be better, people who aren't afraid to call you out when you are wrong, people who give of themselves both in time and money, people who listen to you, people who value who you are, people who encourage and motivate you to do the hard things, people who don't always tell you what you want to hear, people who will fight for truth.This is hard.....and some feelings may be hurt along the way.....but that is just part of being truly vulnerable and real.The consequences for not choosing your community wisely will lead to a shallow emptiness full of flowery words and false assumptions.xo,Barb

FYI FYI

FYI- Meet Ann.....my new partner in crime

I am so thankful for my new intern, Ann! Ann is a senior studio art major at BJU, a local university here in Greenville. I absolutely love having art majors/creatives as interns because they truly understand how to manipulate paint, pull ideas out of thin air, love detail ...and there is really no instruction involved on my part! Ann has already proven herself to be super detailed {brownie points} and a hard worker....we are going to have a great semester together.This is the second intern that I have been gifted with, and I am super stoked about meeting a new friend and having the opportunity to learn and grow together over the next few months. Timing could not be more perfect, and I am excited to learn from Ann, and also to help Ann explore what a creative business is all about!Hit it....and let the good times roll.xo,Barb

Etcetera- My rad desk and scrumptious new candles

I am so excited about all of the progress that has been made in the showroom over these past two weeks! I know this is not new news for those of you who follow me on facebook and instagram because I am always sharing sneak peeks....but the new check out desk was made by my dad....and then given a little knackalicious flair by yours truly. I absolutely love it....love it! It is perfect for me. The really cool thing about this desk is that we semi recycled a work table that I already had by just adding a front and sides to close it in, and then shelving inside to hold supplies. Wait....it gets even better....we then used all of the scrap wood pieces that I had from previous projects, and this desk project, to create all of the awesome new shelving for the walls! It could not have worked out more perfectly, and I am thankful my dad is such a mathematician when it comes to planning and measuring out projects!Speaking of new shelving......these shelves were built to house product in the new showroom...and one of the first products to be displayed on these shelves are the new soy based patchouli and amber candles! I was first drawn to these candles because of the wood label {I love wood} but then I picked them up and smelled them and it was game over. I am very picky about smells.....these candles smell really good......like "walk by them and get a happy feeling" good. Very clean. I am really excited to have them available at Knack. You may wonder what the cool little boxes next to the candles are? Those are matchboxes.......full of matches to light your new candle with and look great while doing so.I smell progress in the form of fresh wood, polyurethane, and a little patchouli on the side.......it smells really great around here!I hope you all have a wonderful weekend! Mine will be full of Indie Craft Parade, my son's first soccer games of the season, and time with friends and family.xo,Barb
