Found Goodness- Instagram, furniture, arrows, & cuckoo clocks

I am not sure if you all know how much I love my husband...{wink!}......but I just can't say enough about how special he is. I could not, and would not want to do life without him. JB is my best friend and partner in life.....and the fact that he has always been my biggest supporter and encourager with the Knack business just means the world to me. Just this week alone, he bought the above piece of furniture for me {I did not even see it before purchase.......yes, he is that good}, he purchased the bright yellow cuckoo clock for the showroom because he "thought it was fun, and I deserved a treat for working so hard", he designed a smokin' invite for the grand opening/ 5 year anniversary event coming up on October 19th, and he washed the sheets and steam mopped the kitchen floor. Oh my, how do you even begin to comprehend the sweetness?.....It has been a wonderful week at Knack.....I am so thankful for my intern, and am looking forward to getting to know her better and working alongside her during these next few months. It is amazing what having an extra person, and an extra set of hands around can get accomplished! Much was accomplished this week and things are really starting to clickity clack along!Woot.Woot.xo,Barb

FYI- Spray paint, fresh in a can

I have been excitedly flitting around the new studio organizing, creating, hanging shelves, cleaning, and throwing away multiple garbage cans full of "stuff". This week though, it has been all about: " what can I get my hands on and spray paint with matte black paint?!"I am currently working on multiple projects, both custom and my own.....but the main one that I am working on for myself right now is the check out desk. I am really wanting everything on the new desk to be clean and unified. In order to make this happen {in my opinion}, I felt like the owl pencil holder, and vintage letter holder that I have used for the past few years needed a bit of freshening. I love how the black owl looks....period.....but oh my goodness it is smashing alongside the new candles! I wish you all could smell these candles through the computer screen.....they are amazing. I digress...I promise I'll fill you in on the candles soon....and will give a full preview of my amazing check out desk {built by my dad, painted by yours truly} on Friday......it is all coming together quite well! I am really getting excited about Knack's grand opening coming up on October 19th! Woot!I will be crazy this month getting ready for all of the goodness that is about to happen, but it just means there will be lots of tidbits to share with all of you....so hang on! Here we go....xo,Barb

I have been meaning to introduce you all to my cousin Neal.......and his knives. They. Are. Fantastic.Neal is first and foremost an American hero who has served on missions both here and abroad in the U.S. Army, and is a decorated soldier. I am so proud. He is up on a giant pedestal for me.....and I wish there were more men like him today. I could go on ...and on.....but he's already going to kill me!Let's talk knives......Neal and I got to talking at a family wedding recently.... and he started telling me that he was wanting to open an Etsy shop: Tidal Tools and Leather to sell the knives that he hand carves and also the hand stitched leather sheaths.....forget about it.....these knives are just super well done and every detail is perfectly executed.  Can you even believe how beautiful these are?I think they are the best I have ever seen.......cousin or not.Hot to trot.xo,Barb

FYI- I crave little clay houses

One of the benefits that comes from having really creative and talented friends, and from being active in a thriving arts community.....is that when you need a special gift, unique one of a kind treats, or just plain old inspiration....you simply have to pick up the phone....or in my case walk up the street! I am spoiled completely, and I know it! I am so thankful for my friends in the art community and admire their talent so much!I wanted to get a little something special for the people who wrote quotes for the back of my book jacket, my fabulous editor, and the special someone who wrote the forward for my book! Several weeks back, you may remember me talking about my very special studio warming gift from my friend Jen .........well, it was at that moment that it hit me......I want CRAVE to make little sets of white houses for all my special peeps! Peepity, peep, peep....I couldn't be more excited to send these little handmade pieces from my neck of the woods to places like Canada, Europe, San Fran, New York, and Alabama!I am excited about them...and I hope the recipients will truly enjoy them! You all may order little houses for yourself as well....{yippee}..... just visit Crave on Facebook, or pop by her shop on Pendleton Street to place your order!Thank you Jen for making little houses!xo,Barb

Introductions- Swagger back Wingbacks

These two chairs came to me by way of a local interior design duo: Trouvais. I have known Jennifer for a really long time, and was more than happy to help out with a commercial design job she is currently hard at work on.The shape of these chairs is great, I love the sweet curves, and I really love the carving detail. Anytime I see curves and carving I know good things are about to go down. Paint has a way with curves and I am more than happy to join in the fun.The design plan for this job called for some rustic goodness, and so I chose a dry brush technique for the perfect whitewashed," been like this forever" look, and went to town transforming these chairs. I hope to be able to get a few photos when the upholstery is complete......but for now.......Clients are happy. I am happy. All in a days work.xo,Barb
