Shop Happenings
We are busy bees around the shop these days! All of our new Spring merch is rolling in, and it is so fantastic! I love being a shop owner, and picking special things that I think are perfect for both my home and yours. These new soy candles came in yesterday, and are already on the shelves and in the online shop. With scents like teakwood and tobacco, campfire special {you know that campfire smell that soaks in your clothes after a good bonfire? yeah....that smell}, fig and jasmine, and amber and moss....there is sure to be a scent for everyone! We are hooked! The clean and timeless apothecary packaging makes these candles easily suited to any environment they are placed in.Light em up!xo,Barb
Do What You Say
image via pinterest
Is this not the truth? How many times do we hear ourselves and others talk big and do little? It is not cool......not cool at all.Only say what you know you will do.....and do not let pride creep in and take over your words. That leads to empty words and promises....and ultimately a lack of credibility.xo,Barb
A Modern Tape Treatment Using FrogTape®
My second post for FrogTape® is live! I took an armoire, painted the base in blue milk paint and then chose army green, pink, and gold latex paints to add a stripe pattern to the doors. The brass octopus knobs are bangin'.....and round out the design very nicely! The full tutorial is here on the FrogTape blog, so check it out....and this armoire is available for sale in the online shop here, as well as our brick and mortar shop on Lois Ave.!Enjoy!xo,Barb
I received compensation to complete this project for using FrogTape® products. All opinions, projects and ideas are based on my own experience.
A little deep blue jewelry chest
I purchased this little tiny furniture piece, which just happens to moonlight as a jewelry box, a few months ago. I thought it was adorable, and I personally had not come across one quite like it before.I got busy doing other things, and this little one was forgotten on a shelf.....until....I spotted it last week and thought "it is surely time to make this piece new"....and off I went.Of course it's brilliant blue, {because I LOVE that} and I was going to list this little lovely in the shop....but it was snatched up on Friday as soon as I put it on the showroom floor.P.S. all of the amazing jewelry in these photos is by my friend Lily Wikoff of Lily Pottery, and can be purchased online here.
Vulnerability
When I first read this quote, I had to re read it....and then read it again. It is so true, is it not? Sometimes when we are in our most vulnerable places, it takes so much courage to be truthful both to ourselves and to others......to be uncomfortable and be ok with that. What happens though....when we embrace the vulnerable place and remain humble and teachable.....is fierce.xo,Barb
Stripes and ships on a little nightstand named "Watts"
This lovely little nightstand belongs to my client, and it came from her grandmother. It had a broken back leg, which I fixed, and the way that it looked unpainted was not a right fit for the environment it was needed in. So, we talked......came up with a grand plan of action and off I went to work some magic. This nightstand will be living between two beds....in a condo by the beach! Doesn't it look like a beach bum, ships and all? What a life! Fresh and new, and ready to make memories for more generations and families yet to come!I love what I do! It is so exciting to see things transformed, and made fresh.Enjoy the beach, Watts!xo,Barb
