I spied this picture of me and my sis while catching up on her blog last night...{if you don't visit her already you need to get your behind over to cranny + b }...and I forgot we had taken it. It made me smile from ear to ear......now I remember it, it was take this past February, and the big grins are probably because I was making some joke about burying my double chin in my giant scarf:) or some other crazy shenanigans. Speaking of scarves, I absolutely can not wait to wear boots and scarves again! This summer heat wave has been .....naughty, plain and simple.
I love my sister so much, and wish that she did not live on the other side of the country from me....but, thank goodness for Skype! I can at least see her face, and my little "G" every now and again. I love you "Sakes"!
Have a great weekend all! It's back to school for us on Monday! Can you even believe it? It is school time people, and I have one entering 7th grade, and one entering 9th grade......nuts I tell you.

FYI
For the past couple weeks we have been working on switching the guest bedroom and my son C's bedroom. I thought I would give you a very sneak peek of the progress we have made......there is yet to be a new light fixture, new window treatments, artwork and found objects on the walls, etc. So far, we have painted, built a platform bed, and moved in the Union Jack.....but it was enough to make me a really happy camper, and spur me on to finish. Remember we had a week of vacation in there somewhere, so it is back to sorting and moving everything from one place to another.
Yesterday, C and JB sorted through the piles of "belongings" and organized everything into three piles: keep, goodwill, and attic. So, a big part is behind us...now, we just have to nail down artwork and placement of things and we will be in business.
I cannot believe how gorgeous and bright it is in this room now compared to the previous color, and will be painting the guest bedroom the same color. The color is called Chocolate Froth by Behr paint, and the name is completely deceiving because when I think chocolate I think brown....but this is the creamiest, frothiest, pale gray you have ever seen. Totally awesome, and the fact that "froth" is in the name ......WIN!
I promise to show whole room pics when it is all done. But for now just relish the sneaky peek!
Enjoy today!

Introductions
Hello all! I scooted in from the beach last night, and am still wading through laundry, seashells, and mail. We had the best time, and Anna Maria Island was absolutely breathtakingly beautiful! I am forever spoiled by the gulf beaches for sure. There will probably be a collection of furniture based on the colors of this trip.......the turquoise water, white powdery sand, pink sunsets, green seaweed, and blue sky are forever etched in my little mind.
For now though, I wanted to show you all these chairs that I finished up for a client right before I split town. These boogers were hard....hard ...hard! I wanted them to be perfect, and it took about 5 really light coats of paint, and then a final brushed on coat of brown wax to get them where I wanted. I am super pumped about how they turned out. I rarely paint with white so it was fun to whip up some white goodness for a change.
The fabric that is going on these guys is absolutely fantastic. I can't wait until everything is in place, and I can get a finished shot for you. There is a lot of pink and orange in the fabric that mimics a hand painted paisley pattern already on the dining room walls.....and there is even a little silver leaf on the walls as well. It is so gorgeous, and I am thrilled to be a part of this super creative project.
That's all for now! I have lots to get done today!
Have a super duper day!

This week flew by, which is good and bad. Good, because so much was accomplished...AND, it means that in a few hours I will be headed to Florida for a week of doing nothing but sitting on the beach....reading....drawing.....doodling.....constantly scanning the water for sharks that are coming to eat my children...ironically, watching shark week {my favorite week of television...simply mesmerizing!}.....slathering on 100+ sunscreen {and I will still get burned}...and hopefully a few runs on the beach. I plan on leaving my computer behind, but promise to be back a week from Monday with some fresh new Knack happenings, and probably lots and lots of pictures from the beach.
The bad from this week, is that it was my last week with miss Hattie! Our fabulous time together in the studio has come to an end, and she is headed back to school in a few weeks for her final year! Yay! I have so enjoyed this sweet helper who has been nothing short of amazing and simply a pleasure to work beside in every way! The bar has been set very high my friends! This has been one of the busiest Summers to date for Knack, and I am so thankful for every bit of it. I could not have done it all without you Hattie girl!
Lastly, I had a request for an update on the planter piece in front of the studio! I am happy to report that it is doing awesome, and I have had so many appreciative comments from my neighborhood friends about the happiness it adds to the street! You can compare the photos above to this post when I had just planted them...I can't even believe how much they have grown! I guess you could say they are thriving right? They get lots of love......and they give so much love right back. It's all so good.
Have the best weekend, and I will see you all soon!
