Chromaticity

What about a little royal blue? I have always shunned it, finding it too bold and crazy harsh....but I am warming up to its boldness and its connection to the navy that I love so much. I am loving the shift towards brilliant gem stone shades.
This dark royal blue by Benjamin Moore has my approval.
Yay or nay?

This piece is one that I just finished for a client in Charleston, SC. I was so pumped when miss "C" emailed me and asked about me doing a piece for her home. I started looking up the links in her email  and quickly found out that she is a super talented graphic designer that I hope to introduce to you all soon, and she has the cutest shop you ever did see! I loved her aesthetic and style and was excited that she had picked little old me to create for her. The absolute trust that she had in me was super humbling yet exciting.....as she has never seen this piece in person, but picked it from a photo of "up and comers" in the studio! We emailed back and forth to discuss a design plan for her space, and this is what we came up with.
I love, love the richness of this dark slate blue color so much, and I mixed it up a bit with a lighter blue top. I used my brand new paper to line the drawers, and finished it off with some octagon shaped wooden knobs.
SupercaliKnackalicious.
Me likey......do you likey?
P.S. stay tuned, because on Thursday I have created a very fun Design Sponge tutorial that includes a little Union Jack action! :)

Welcome to Monday ladies and gents! I hope you all had a great weekend! It was chilly and rainy here the whole weekend.....BUT....both of our munchkins ended up spending the night with friends and so the hubs and I had a 24 hour date/dinner/movie marathon! It was fantastic!
The word "goody" makes me think of my newest friend....."Gussy". This piece was a beautiful little french dresser, but alas she had seen better days. I picked her up from a local dealer who was cleaning out his warehouse, and couldn't wait to get my hands on her! I wish the before pictures could capture how bad things really were, but oh well.....guess you have to trust me on this one!
I tried out a new paint on Gussy, and so far I am liking it, but want to try it several more ways before I give the verdict and full endorsement! I will be doing a full tutorial on my finds, and will be sure to let you know all of my tips and tricks. I can definitely see me adding it to my assortment of paints for those projects that require this specific look.
Gussy is painted in a very subtle and pretty shade of duck egg blue, and the knobs are yet another addition to my ever growing knob collection. I love the retro feel that they give this piece and yet they are neutral in color for versatility. Gussy is in the etsy shop if you would like to bring her home!
