where I create......

...I know you all have seen many shots of my studio before......but it was so fresh to me ....like new all over again......

... and I was so inspired by the simple things that surrounded me.......that I had to share my glee.......

....this pretty little light fixture that I made from reclaimed garden fencing in my etsy shop.......it comes with it's very own light kit, or you can have it hardwired by a handy dandy man......either way, you will love it in any space you put it in.......it is a goody.......

...totally was in the market for this!.......and used it with my new ceramic starbuck's cup today.....{you know, so I don't have to use the paper ones anymore for my chai tea....yesssss}

...yesterday, while working on a writing assignment that I have coming up about why I love painting and transforming furniture.......I remembered this sweet children's story that I used to read to my little ones........I located it on my daughters bookshelf in her closet, and fell in love with this amazing story all over again....

....it's all about the wemmicks ....little wooden people....made by a wonderful carpenter named eli.....and they live in a little village where all they do all day is walk around with their little boxes of golden stars and gray dots and place them on each other. If you are beautiful, talented, well dressed, and can sing pretty you get lots of stars.....but if your wood is chipped and your paint is peeling .....you have no talents and say silly things you get dots ........{you can see where this is going}....

....there is one little wooden guy named punchinello who only gets dots, and he is so sad because he tries so hard to get stars but he only ends up just making things worse........he doesn't even want to go out anymore because he is so covered in dots it's embarassing ..... and the only people he is comfortable with are the other wemmicks that have lots of dots ......then he meets lucia, and she doesn't have any stars or dots because they won't stick to her......he has to know how she does this.........

....and the rest my friends.....you will have to read for yourself! I love this book, and seek to live my life this way {and see furniture this way!}........if you have not heard of it, or haven't read it.......go out now and buy it......."you are special" by max lucado ......and read it over and over.....

...choose to not let the dots stick or the stars matter.....

weekend reading........

....before I sign off for the weekend I want to tell you all about a new book that I recently purchased { actually my man purchased it for me! he knew I wanted it sooooo very badly but was feeling guilty about buying another book so soon after my three purchases last week! I love that man!}........anyway, back to the matter at hand........

Stan Williams is the author of this very fun book called the find : the housing works book of decorating with thrift shop treasures, flea market objects, and vintage details. I am still in the process of reading it from cover to cover, but am loving the gorgeous photography and the information and ideas behind his style of using repurposed objects and high end finds together to unleash the imagination in decorating. I mean with quotes like..."the trick is to see beyond nicks and wobbles, color and intended purpose and to focus on potential"........he had me at nicks and wobbles! I have truly enjoyed this beautiful book and know that you my friends will enjoy it as well! Stan also has a blog called the elegant thrifter where he is quite witty and full of great tips.....so be sure to stop by and say hello........
