how perfect is this......

I have been meaning to share this serendipitous find with you all ........... I came across this plate and everything about it is perfect! The year I was born, the calendars with the birds and the trees and the boats.......I had to claim it as my own....it was HUGE love at first sight!

oh man......what a night!

I had such a fabulous time at my studio tonight! The air was warm and the breeze so refreshing as it blew through the open doors...... people milled around and chatted and it was so great! Sometimes I have to pinch myself to make sure it is real! I love what I do....... love my studio so much and am so thankful I took the plunge a year and a half ago! {bear with me, I know I'm gushing!}

I have gotten to know so many awesome people ...... one being Dee Sullivan, who I met through "blog land". Dee and her husband Don and baby Bella came to the studio tonight from Charlotte and what a great treat it was! I had so much fun getting to know Dee a little bit more and am excited about getting together again soon when there aren't as many distractions! Dee, you are so wonderful...thank you so much for knowing that I LOVE chai teas and bringing me one! You made me feel so special........thank you so much for encouraging me tonight.... I appreciate you very much! xo

well friends...what can I say about george? This is one of those pieces that number one, I'll never be able to forget and number two, I couldn't wait to start working on! I knew instantly when I saw george what I was going to do .....it was love at first sight! He is amazing and massively fantastic!

I'm so excited for First Fridays tonight.... I love the way the studio looks this month and how the collection and colors came together! Seriously good stuff! Come see me!

I have a huge liking for desks and creating custom pieces that make you want to sit at them and do everything......even pay bills ....seriously !

"b" has so much character and I love her sophisticated attitude and clean lines.....I had a piece of glass cut for the top {not pictured because of the glare} to protect the paper panels and keep them lovely...always!

well...a much better day for photos..... thanks so much for putting up with my silliness about the furniture I create! Some of them do speak and not because I'm crazy ...they just do..... and so, I want to formally introduce you to "vernon".

I have a sweet story to tell on vernon.... as I was painting away I noticed a faint pencil scribble on the inside of the right door and as I moved closer to see, it was this powerful line......"vernon stewart.. honor before death". I stood there glued to the floor, tears in my eyes, my fingers gently touching the words and thinking about vernon...who he was, and how amazingly courageous he must have been. I struggled with painting over these words, but then reminded myself that just because I {or you} cannot see them anymore they are still there, forever etched on this piece and my heart. I will make sure to tell the story to whoever buys this piece so that vernon and his legacy won't soon be forgotten!

Oh..... and I decided to add a little something extra on the inside.... {things}....xo

non photogenic day.........

I tried to get some styled shots of my new pieces..."vernon", "george" and "bedilia" but they were totally uncooperative!! "vernon" is an armoire with a mirrored front, and he was totally more interested in taking the attention off himself and onto the cars going by on the street {he's just that kind of guy...more on that later!}........ "bedilia" was a little nervous because her drawers were not completely done and "george" was just grumpy ...... everything was blurry and too bright....so for today these little teasers will have to do, and I'm hoping for a crazy photogenic day today! {wink}

I'm LOVING these gorgeous new glass bottles I just got in.... I will try to shoot one with a flower in it ....... maybe.... fingers and toes crossed.......xo

another eat it......

since the first one went so fast....... I decided to do another "eat" table! this one is a little smaller {but still has the two leaves that come out from underneath}, more of a square and a darker finish.

I have had so much fun doing these tables! I love how a big graphic word and some great fabric for the chair seats gives the perfect amount of punch to a tired piece.....
